I posted this Facebook status on the morning of September 26, 2009. Everybody was talking about the weather that morning. I could hear on the radio that a lot of areas in Metro Manila had started to flood. Outside our house, rain water had reached the sidewalk. This was rather unusual in our street - at least for the past four years that we've stayed at Provident. Strong rains would cause flooding at the main village road in front of the Mormon temple, but never here.
My mom and I kept looking out the window, to check if the water was rising. To our relief, the water would go down the minute the rain subsides.
Mommy watched Teleradyo in her room. Jed and I did our own stuff on the computer. Facebook was on and people can't stop talking about the rain and the flood.
Jomari and family came. This meant that it was already flooding in Antipolo. According to their maid, the water was already neck-deep there. But that's Katarungan Village. It always floods in their place! We almost always expect Jomari and family to be here when there is a typhoon. It's a familiar scenario many times a year especially during typhoon season.
Jomari and Grace left to get their other car (or some car concerns). They left Bea and Miguel with us. A few minutes later they called. They had a hard time leaving Provident, for the water was already deep in other streets. Grace asked me if we want to leave and check in at Galleria Suites to avoid the flood. I said, no need. We'll be okay.
Meanwhile, Tita Mardi called. Tita Anching called. Kuya Anthony called. Mommy spoke with Tita Mary. They were all apprehensive about the flooding. Mommy called the Barangay Office at around 11 am. They said they are monitoring the river level and will send an announcement should it be necessary to leave. They told her someone will go around to update the neighborhood.
And so we continued FB'ing. I took pictures of the rain and posted it on Facebook.
